Ada in Astrophysics
Professor Martin Stift carries out research on the modelling atmospheres of magnetic stars and teaches Astrophysics at Vienna University. His work involves calculations with huge amounts of atomic data and requires massively parallel computing. When he couldnít push his existing programs any further with Fortran he turned to Ada which is perfectly suited for many scientific applications and has been using it ever since.
Not only did Ada help Professor Stift solve his computing challenges, he also found that it proved to be the perfect language for teaching his students good solid programming practices.
