Vincent Celier
Vincent Celier spent twenty years in the French Navy, as a radar and computer officer. He retired in 1988 with the rank of commander and joined CR2A, a software house, where he was one of the authors of the ISO Technical Report ExtrA (Extensions Temps Reel en Ada). In 1994 he emigrated to Vancouver, Canada, to work on CAATS, the Canadian Automated Air Traffic System, a large system written in Ada. He joined AdaCore in 2000. He is the main implementer of the Project Manager and of gprbuild, the multi-language builder.
What does Frontline Support mean to you?
Find the right person to solve a problem. Help the customer to better express a problem, when it is not immediately clear. Be proactive in proposing solutions and work-arounds.
What drew you to Ada?
While on a NATO exchange in Halifax, Canada, in 1979-1982, I learned Pascal, wrote and sold a Pascal compiler and heard about the Ada competition. Later, in 1986-1998, I was posted in a military research center where the developers used Ada. Having already appreciated Pascal, I was drawn to Ada for its rigor and readability.
What’s your favorite feature of GNAT Pro Technology?
Its increasing set of tools to build complex software systems, around the GNAT Project technology.
