Matthew Gingell is a software engineer working for AdaCore in New York. He received a bachelors degree in Computer Science from New York University in 2000, where he worked for AdaCore founder Dr. Robert Dewar. Among the issues Matt has focused on at AdaCore are support for the LynxOS operating system, C++ integration, and support for using POSIX interfaces in Ada software.
Frontline Support means getting tool and language issues resolved promptly and letting the customer get on with their job. It means allowing the customer focus their skills on making their application a success, rather than getting blocked on problems or questions regarding the toolset.
I love the confidence I can have in software I’ve written in Ada. I know that the type system has ensured that I’ve actually said what I think I’ve said.
One of my favorite features is style checking. Automatically ensuring every author writes code that conforms to a set of guidelines is very useful. Especially when I don’t necessarily have a completely consistent style myself!
