This Month’s AdaCore Expert

  • AdaCore Expert - Greg Gicca

Greg Gicca

Greg has over 20 years’ experience in designing and implementing software development tools, and has participated in industry and government groups responsible for defining software quality evaluation standards. He has applied this focus on quality to the safety and security arena for embedded systems and to the avionics DO-178B safety standard in particular, as well as to Eclipse and general open software. Greg is Director of Safety and Security Product Marketing at AdaCore.

What does Frontline Support mean to you?

AdaCore’s frontline support is unique in the industry. Instead of having a small separate support organization, all AdaCore engineers directly support our customers. This means that support questions are answered almost immediately and expert advice is always available. Further, with offices across the US and in Paris responses may be provided on an almost 24 hour basis. No other software tools supplier can match the responsiveness that AdaCore is able to provide.

What drew you to Ada?

I first learned the Ada language while in college. It was provided as an example in a programming language course as having new and advanced language concepts such as exception handling, generic templates and multi-processing. It was an exciting technology at that time and even today no other language provides all the capabilities that Ada does in a single programming language. I have worked for companies that provide software development tools for the Ada language ever since. This has allowed me to work with this exciting technology throughout the years.
