Robert BK Dewar President & CEO

Robert Dewar is co-founder, President and CEO of AdaCore and is a Professor of Computer Science at the Courant Institute of New York University. He has been involved with Ada for over 20 years and, as co-director of both the Ada-Ed projects and the GNAT project, led the team that developed the first validated Ada compiler at NYU. Robert was one of the authors of the requirements document for the Ada revision, and served as a distinguished reviewer for both Ada 83 and Ada 95. He has co-authored several renowned compilers including the SPITBOL (SNOBOL) compiler, the Realia COBOL compiler for the PC (now marketed by Computer Associates), and the Alsys Ada compiler. He has also written several real time operating systems for Honeywell Inc. Among his many publications, Robert is a principal author (with Professor Edmond Schonberg) of GNAT, the GNU Ada Compiler. A talented public speaker, he is frequently invited to share his thoughts in public on computers and on open-source software. |
Franco Gasperoni Managing Director

Franco Gasperoni is co-founder and Managing Director of AdaCore in Europe. He has been involved with Ada both commercially and technically since 1991. Franco has an engineering degree from the Ecole des Mines de Paris, France and a PhD in Computer Science from New York University, USA. While at the Ecole des Mines, Franco worked with Maurice Allais, the French Economics Nobel prize. Franco has lectured and conducted research at New York University and at the Ecole des Telecommunications (ENST), in Paris. Franco has published over 25 papers. |
Edmond Schonberg Vice President

Ed Schonberg is co-founder and Vice President of AdaCore. A professor of Computer Science at New York University, he has played a key role in the Ada community for over 15 years. One of the principal developers of the first validated Ada compiler at NYU, Ed has contributed significantly to several major advances in the Ada language and compiler technology. He has been notably a driving force behind the development of the GNAT front end. Among his many published works, Dr. Schonberg is co-author of and accompanist for Ada & the Mandate, and the Musical Adventures of Lady Ada. His research interests include the design and implementation of programming languages, Software Engineering and programming methodologies, and chamber music. |
Richard Kenner Vice President

Richard Kenner is a co-founder and Vice President of AdaCore. He was a researcher in the Computer Science Department at New York University from 1975 through 1998. During that time, he worked with the SETL Project, a research project in high-level programming languages, the PUMA Project, which designed and built an emulator for the CDC 6600 in the late 1970’s, and for many years with the Ultracomputer Project, which did research on highly-parallel computer systems. At Ultra, he worked on hardware design, VLSI design, and compilers. As part of the latter work, he was the maintainer of the GCC compiler (on which the GNAT technology is based) for the Free Software Foundation for the 2.5.x through 2.8.x releases. He published papers both on compiler design and VLSI design of a switching network for Ultra and was the designer of the interface between the GNAT front end and GCC. |
Cyrille Comar Managing Director

Cyrille Comar is co-founder and Managing Director of AdaCore Europe. He has been involved with Ada for well over a decade. Having received his PhD degree in Computer Sciences in 1986, Dr. Comar joined the GNAT project at New York University in 1993. One of the key architects of GNAT, Cyrille has notably led the implementation of the Ada 95 object-oriented features and the GNAT library model. He was also a key architect of the Ada 95 gcc frontend. Cyrille has published many papers on the Ada language and GNAT technology. |
